Located on Westbourne Grove, London, this small penthouse apartment built on a 50sq.m (square meters) shell space at fifth floor level on top of a converted church. This apartment is planned as a totally open plan space withe a one bedroom that can be sectioned off with top hung light diffusing panels. Electronically controlled wrap around curtains give privacy at night and due to the high degree of glazing, comfort cooling has been installed. read more »
This unique split-house shows the different approach of a modern construction. Built in a historic neighborhood, this project should be perfectly integrated in its environment. Situated in Philadelphia, the Split-Level House comes from Qb, an architecture studio which also deals with design. The main materials used in order to complete the construction and to give it an inviting look were polished concrete, wood and steel. The JM Architecture have been commissioned to redecorate and makeover an old apartment in Como, Italy into such a modern apartment, and by the looks of it, they’ve done a sterling job. The biggest concern was to keep the original shape and the shell intact, yet bring a minimalist flavor to the whole invading living space. On top of bringing new functionality to the flat, it’s the extensive use of wood (lovely hardwood floors in there), the steel beam assembled staircase with open treads, the white finished walls and the stylish lighting that got our eyes. Located in San Fransisco, California, the Ludwig Penthouse is a perfect housing design which not only located in wonderful location but its also has stunning interiors design. The original 4-bedroom/4-bath penthouse was a rabbit’s warren of confusing rooms. The rooms were combined and uses were re-assigned to allow the occupants to take dvantage of the views looking north and south and the movement of the sun through out the day.
Materials used are clear and etched 1/2″ glass, slabs of Black walnut, hand made mosaic tile walls, and gun blued steel. For more information please visit Craig Steely website.
